Subject: Running rich.....

My 83.5 Westy was idling rough when cold and was hesitating during acceleration. When it got up to temperature it was running fine though a little warmer than usual. The temp gauge was up the center instead of a little to the left of the LED. I took it go my *mechanic who said he turned up the screw allot on the AFM to make it run richer. OK, now it idles perfectly and there is no hesitation whatsoever. My new issue is I can feel it has less power than it normally does, roughly 10-15% or so. Also, (like nobody saw this coming) I'm now getting a whopping 13 MPG as apposed to the normal 19 MPG I get in the city. The engine is running smooth now but I don't think this was the correct fix.

*My mechanic, probably one of the last of the "old timers", is getting ready to retire and he basically is tired of working on my van so the last couple of fixes have been not what I expected. I may have to back to working on the van myself but I rarely have the time.

Anyway, any thoughts would be appreciated and if by chance any wasserboxer guru's are going to be at the Buses By The Depot this Saturday and need a weekend challenge, let me know.

Thanks, Bryan
