One of the reasons it can't be a '73 and newer is the bumpers.? VW went to the square bumpers in '73.? You can't see it in the picture but they also moved the front turn signals up to under the windshield on either side of the fresh air intake.? Also, somewhere about that time, the side marker lights went from having a silver colored bezel to a black one.? The major difference was the engine.? In '72, they did away with the venerable upright fan, bug style engine and went with the 1700 cc, dual- carbed, pancake style?"Porsche" engine. Tom Illinois?
