Hmmm, I can't remember, but I believe they are the same on both
sides, but the inside might be slightly lighter?

Yes
I just measured my 84 Westy-high part is about 43"tall while width
to seams is about 47", so it can be done w/ 46" wide material, but
striped material running vertically would have front corner seams
slightly to the center instead of right at the "corners" & sides
would have seams +_.
