It's obviously 2 inches too long; it was 2 inches longer than the tent that was take out.

>> Then he proceeded to install it with the perceived 'extra' material folded over, and then trimmed it off. <<

Since my other tent was now trash and I this is the tent I am told is the correct one I installed it with the rubber base in the metal trim and the extra material folded over.

>> Then he discovered at the very end that it was about 2 inches too short, when it ripped while opening the top? <<

I think I mention in the video that if you did your 8th grade geometry then you will discover why the end was too short.

>> No offense, but, in this case, I really don't think that anyone should be filming a how-to video, attempting to perform a task that they have had little or no experience successfully accomplishing, and then posting it on the web in an attempt to demonstrate the procedures to other people. <<

Since there is NOTHING available out there currently I thought I would film it to show how I did it. It never hurts to see how others do something. I would have loved to see even a half-ass attempt by someone at taking out the camping gear so I could have watched it before I did mine to repair the rust.

Nowhere do I say I am an expert and this is how you install a tent.

My title clearly says How NOT to install a tent. Actually the entire video is pretty tongue-in-cheek (please review by watching some old Bob Newhart shows) and 99% of the emails I have received were pretty appreciative of having at least something to go on before doing it themselves. If, by chance, someone films the R&R of a pre-86 Westfalia tent (with staples) I'll be glad to remove the video from YouTube.
