You need to tack them so they won't turn under load.  If they are free to
turn, the outer sleeve does the wearing out rather than the bushing, which
is bad.

Drive the van to your local friendly muffler shop and have them give the
bushings a buzz.  As long as they are immobilised you'll be good to go.  :)
