Mike -

Correct terminology is paramount here when identifying parts. What you're looking for is the Cap for the Expansion Tank (the one with the hose barb/nipple).

VW 025 121 321 B The Expansion Tank is the one located on the southwest corner (or the corner nearest the rear of the vehicle) of the engine compartment.

The Coolant Recovery Tank is the one located behind the License Plate Door. The cap for that is VW 025 121 482 and of course, there is no hose barb/nipple on that cap. -- Jim Thompson 84 GL 1.9 "Gloria" 84 Westfalia 2.1 "Ole Putt" 73 K Ghia Coupe "Denise" 72 411 Station Wagon "Pug" oldvolkshome@gmail.com http://www.oldvolkshome.com *********************************** On 10/22/07, Mike Rocket J Squirrel Elliott <camping.elliott@gmail.com> wrote: > > What's the official part number for the coolant reservoir tank cap for > the 84 1.9l? > > The loaner I got (which does not leak) has its nipple pointed away from > the expansion tank, necessitating a crude lengthening of the hose with a > bit of clear tubing and some hose clamps.
