The jumping tach can tell a lot, unless the tach itself is defective. Start
with looking for broken wires at the hall plug on the distributor ot the
hall sensor or distributor bushings are shot. Extra tach or igniton pulses
not only cuase spark problems but also cuase extra or missing injector
cycles. The O2 sensor will not effect starting.
