Oh yeah, lots of times. Dan (Dan? The big one?)) was the second-in-command to Mike Gordon at Gordon's Used VW & Porsche before they sold it off to the rapacious folks that own it now.

He's a pretty fair and easy going guy, in my experience, and knows Golfs & Jettas really well. He's also into swapping motors, Corrado into Jetta, Twincam into Rabbit Pickup, that kind of thing, so he might be able to help you with some of that part of your journey.
