Do you mean inspection on the Vanagon? I have never had them ask me to put it into reverse, and we pull straight through the stall, so nobody sees it. These are not "safety inspections" like other parts of the US. Just the emissions test, a peek underneath for something that looks like a catalytic converter under there, and some test to make sure the car's not too loud. On a newer car, it's a different test stall but I still don't think they check. And by the way, you don't pay until you pass.
