I'm also curious about what regulations, if any, there are about transporting portable propane tanks. I'm assuming these would have to go up on the luggage rack. In some ways carrying around a couple of the small one lb bottle that are available even in the middle of nowhere sounds more attractive, and perhaps less hazardous? I know they are not as economical, but they would not be used for long-term either.

Troy, I always carry two of the small green 1# tanks under my rear bench seat. Never though about nor care about the regulations. I'm sure they are safe. Many, many people are travelling around with these in there vehicles to and from stores, to and from camping trips, etc. I also have a filler for these tanks that I got from Habour Freight. It allows me to refill them from my main tank or any portable tank. I use the tanks mainly for a Coleman propane lantern or if I need to have the cook stove far from the van. I like Denis's idea of disassembling the extend-a-stay fitting to make it shorter. I will be looking at this later today as I have a customer coming this morning to have an extend-a-stay fitting installed on his Eurovan Westy. I'm sure I looked at this option before and could not see that it was possible to take it apart. I will look again today and report back.

Cheers,
