I'm hopiing to replace the fuel pump and fuel filter with some spares. That seems the logical point, i'm fairly certain its fuel related. Just before this problem miraculously occurred, "Seafoam" was added to the tank. My theory is this somehow nocked loose rust (?) and that killed the fuel filter. It definately feels like a fuel starvation issue. I was on another mighty test drive to try to determine the symptoms, only to find that as i went, the further i went the more it started dying on me. Furthermore, there was one big hill (about 3/4mile long) that was ending my test drive and i was powering up it fingers crossed when it did it. So, i started the car back up, made it say 20 feet before it died again. Started it back up, 15 feet. Started back up, 10 feet. With a nice long line of cars behind me, my car would no longer start (it only has so many good starts in a 5 minute period due to the battery). So, i backed the car down the hill into a driveway, had my brother and father scurry over with a jump pack, and with my brother following (safe distance behind), and my father sitting in the back seat holding the jump pack on, we traveled the remaining mile 20-30 feet at a time laughing all the way (flashers on, 40mph road). Long story short, it proved to be a fun and rewarding day of vanagon life, despite its current problems. Hopefully these can be resolved simply, we shall see next weekend. Stay tuned for next weeks episode! : )
