VW OEM oil filter for my 2001 Passat has the word 25 KM on the filter body. everything else were German, a language I once learned but has forgotten completely. The word 25 KM were fairly large relative to all other words. I am sure it is saying something that has its reason to be said. I wonder if it means change the filter every 25 KM (kilometers). I asked the dealer once. They told me I should follow the owner's manual. OEM Passat oil filter is more than $15 a piece. I changed it every two oil changes despite the owner's manual says to change it at every oil change at 7500 miles. Opened a cylinder head cover once and saw that everything was clean and shiny inside. I wonder if the oil filter is indeed supposed to last up to 25 KM.
