Matt, I have never seen a Vanagon speedometer that simply didn't work - period. If it does absolutely nothing, then most likely there is a problem with the cable or somewhere up or down on the cable - at the wheel, at the counter box just above the spare tire, or perhaps at the point where it enters the back of the speedometer. You can disconnect the speedo cable at the dash and rotate the tire to see if the cable is turning. If so, it's likely the speedo is bad. Good luck, John Rodgers 88 GL Driver,
