If it has air conditioning, the fan will run all the time if the air conditioning switch is left on. The problem there may be as simple as that.

Should the automatic trans require an overhaul, it could cost somewhere between $850.00 and $1,000.00 (unless you do it yourself, of course). A used automatic tranny, if you can find one cheap, might be a way to go.
