thanks Dennis. Yah wondered about a similar idea. My old grease gun. But that would be too involved. The hose is too small as is the cylinder.

FWIW, (those who are keeping score!) by squirting oil in the cylinders and cranking by hand at the alt. nut, (part of the reason i wanted to get the alt. a little more steady) I am now able to turn it without it binding. As it was doing on 3 and and 1 cylinder. It would bind, then I'd go ccw, then cw and so on. The engine now turns by hand all the way with very little if any difference in friction through the entire firing order.

And again, FWIW, removed from engine, with hoses off, I can totally blow air from the vaccum side of the FPR through to the fuel connection nipples.

And yah. It's GerfunktaBooten.
