The way it came to me (just bought van for parts) was with one of the
studs broken flush to block. Fom what I'd read in archives, drilling
then tapping or helicoiling can be tricky and requires moving the
coolant pipe. I don't want to break open the cooling system as yet and
don't want to mess with tapping/helicoil.
Yah things were totally loose in there. The remaining stud was bent,
and wearing its' hole oval. Plus one hole in bracket where cross bolt
goes was worn almost right through. I just bolstered things up so it
can be tested.
Thought I'd post pics so any other people who wanted to try this
temporary solution, might use it or improve on it. And FWIW, this is
done for pretty specific reasons. Emergency or as in my case, for
testing the engine. Of course the right way would be to repair the
stock studs, then properly mount a "new" bracket to them. For now it's
much better than what I originally saw.
