I use HID H3 lamps in my vanagon´s highbeam lamps.

Great daylight-ish color after a few seconds. The first 4 or 5 seconds are hardly brighter than lowbeam, but then they get bright!

I use the standard 6000K lamps. 5400K-6300K are used in german cars with stock HID lights.

Seems blue for a moment, but only a few seconds. When the eyes have lost comparison to the (extremely) yellow halogen low-beam bulbs, it is really white.

I got the H3 setup from Ebay. Straight from China and without TÜV, so illegal in Germany. But who else but myself sees my high beams lamps in action, anyway?!

This was a plug-and-play setup: Halogen out, HID in, ballast screwed to headlight frame, highbeam wires connected to ballast, done.

Regards Raimund
