EXACTLY why I'm going with the 1.9 TDI next time I'm in Europe. Actually I did have a 1.6 TD timing belt break and leave me stranded near Beni Mellal, Morocco, and just as you said, the local Renault dealer found another engine and installed it for less then $1,000 and I was back on the road in 3 days. The story is much longer, and much more interesting, but .......... Malcolm
