I would not let a shadetree mechanic within a mile of either an EV or a Vanagon.  DIY repair is relative to your skilset.  Eurovan = dealership visits.

IMHO passenger Vanagons with sorted suspensions handle better than EVs.  EVs have better brakes, though.

EV is more expensive and harder to find a non-dealership shop to maintain them properly.
