Well, the FUN BUS did not get driven to Florida. Last week I picked up a Benz 600SEL. As I started packing I just couldn't resist the temptation. Since I didn't need the sleeping accommodations and it was my self and my in-laws I decided to go with comfort and speed.
Well in keeping with German tradition it is leaking oil and the AC is not working just like a Vanagon. The radiator cooling fans run on high almost all the time so I think the fan control module is locking out the AC. Yes, this looks like an electrical nightmare.
I may have found the ultimate conversion engine though. This 6 liter V-12 puts out over 400 HP and 427 ft./lbs torque. Even with major Friday afternoon NY and NJ traffic, and then pushing like 85+ mph once down here, it did just over 16.5 mpg. Now, how can we get one under the deck lid.
