The Maaco's are all franchised so you need to see if you can find info on
the one you are going to. There are some that are excellent and some that
are worse than Earl.

And definitely sand it first, I think those cheap guys apply a coat of wax
before painting it if you don't. ;)

2K?  More like $4K which is the going rate these days for good paint job.
That's why I've been holding mine at bay with PaintScratch.com.

OK, so what I'm hearing is:

1) Do the sanding and minor body work myself;
2) Take off parts where possible and do some masking myself;
3) Check out Maaco prices and little guy prices.

I'm just not willing to spend $2K+ for a real job on this car--and if a
cheapo job lasts 3 years and costs $700, that seems worth it.
