Thank you Jim for that answer. My suspicions are confirmed. What I had come to understand: ETKA is parts, replaced the parts fiche.... The repair/shop fiche from VW were/are for shop reference and are a combination of material from both Bently and VW . This makes sense since Bently is (or was) the 'official' publisher of VW shop manuals, at least for the Vanagon. And I've seen Bentley manuals on the bench in two VW dealers shops which also makes sense. So I would expect that the CDs from VW referenced at the start of this thread and purported to be the fiche on CD would be of value to any shop because they probably hold info beyond the Bentley printed manual, that info coming from VW itself. But it sounds like one does not replace the other, printed manual or fiche, but in fact complement each other. And since I don't do my own wrenching, what the hell am I doing in the middle of this anyway?? :)
