carfax it and test drive it. i did on my 86 and after driving it, the miles didn't scare me. when a PO does preventative maintenance and is a list member......worth every penny. out of all my Vanagons, that 86 was the best $730 i have spent. btw, it was found and purchased off eBay.

Well just in terms of resale I can't see any reason to lie about high millage?
