!! you got me there all right. I failed to catch that. However, what I wrote applies exactly to both stock vanagon and a subaru engine conversion vanagon. The fuel pump logic is precisely the same in both systems, at least for 90's era subaru engines. Late throttle by wire systems could be different than that for all I know, or ones using CAN-BUS architecture, they could be considerably different, but the common ones all are identical to the vanagon fuel pump relay logic. the part about the Bentley I wrote - yes, there's no Bentley on subaru, and their wiring diagrams are 'strange' some , and it would be harder to see what's what in their diagrams perhaps. There is hardly any way he would change the fuel pump relay logic in his subaru conversion. The ecu still supplies grnd for the relay to energize it etc. He could toss that whole system of course, but if he did, it's unlikely he would be asking questions about how to disable the fuel pump relay.

I just went to the original post, and read it carefully. No where did I see that it reveals it's a soobie conversion, -perhaps that's in some of the other following posts and answers - I didn't' read all of those. So does the guy have a plan now ?

I guess few noticed that he said he has a SUBARU conversion. Without specific info about the wiring modifications that were made in HIS conversion it may not help to suggest approaches that presume VW ECU and

VW support wiring.
