Shocks won't have a big effect on ride height, but may have something to do with things if you "bounce" the front bumper into the ground. If your shocks are older than a couple of years, or have more than 50K miles on them, they might just need changing anyway.

Larger wheels and tires are available in any flavor, just take your pick. I personally am running 15" Audi alloy wheels, with 235/75 R15 tires, and I gained a little over an inch in ride height. That translates to LOTS of extra clearance at the bumpers!

Another common trouble spot is the saggy springs. Westies are especially subject to this, because of their higher standard weight. If you have a Bentley manual, check the ride height specs against your van, and then decide where to go from that.

Another question: with local driving - no freeway, I have a range of 169 miles on a tankful of gas. That seems extremely low. With freeway driving, my range increases to 189 - 200 miles. Since I live only 3 miles from my job, I don't do much freeway driving. What's this all about?

Thanks Patti Still very much a newbie 90 Westy automatic
