A little bit of Teflon paste will lubricate the threads. Don't use tape, because it
can shred and small pieces can plug up fine gas orifices.

I just purchased a Stay-a-while also known as the extend-a-stay, and I'm having to
change some of the fittings into a different configuration. It appears to me that the
manufacturer used the red (permanent) loctite thread lock compound. I'm just curious
if this is the stuff to use for reassembly, or should I be using the white Teflon
paste? Can't imagine the fittings vibrating loose overtime. Is one type of thread
compound preferred over the other for propane?
