Neil,

What model are you considering?

I 'm typing this on a CF-27 with a 500 Mhz P3 running windows 2000 on a wireless home network. It's about the toughest toughbook Panasonic made. It has a rubber keyboard with no cracks between the keys.

The virtual desktop video driver gives you up to 1280x1024 with an 800x600 window so you have to scroll around to see all of ETKA but it's no problem.

I got mine on eBay for around 100 bucks and added RAM and an 80GB drive. Does GPS really well with Delorme or Streets and trips using the touch screen.

You can toss it around all you want. Magnesium alloy frame and shell really rocks. All the ports are gasketed or covered.

I've built up several Toughbooks for our local emergency amateur radio group and they work very well in that environment.

Let me know what you find out there and I'll check it out for you. I also have all the drivers for most models and lots of spare parts for the CF-27.
