I have tried a set of Repco pads probably 10 years ago. I still have them in my garage somewhere. They did not work well. It took me a lot of work to realize that it was the brake pads that were not good.

After those pads were installed the brake simply could not stop the Vanagon like the old pads could. I thought I had other problems in the brake system. But I could not find anything wrong. I actually removed the Repco pads and put on another set of after market pads. Same thing. Just no good. So I paid the VW dealer $70 for a set of OEM pads. The brake was instantly in great working order once the OEM pads were on. I could not believe it. But that's what happened. I have never considered any more after market pads ever since.

OEM pads have since become cheaper I believe. They seem to be the best for Vanagons. I don't mind to pay for their price. But I am concerned that someday they don't carry it any more or they may change to different pads.
