I've re-welded about a  dozen of these.  Actually I've brazed then back
together.
Unlike a steel weld,  brass will flow across the entire joint,   making
this joint
stronger, than original.    ITs a tricky bond.  Over heating  the joint
and the
brass will flow on to the pivot surface, making re-assembly impossible.
