Thanks to all those responded about my inquiry concerning a GPS system. I started out by looking at the higher end Tom Tom units, and was redirected, and further redirected back to the $149 model on Amazon. The software solutions for the laptop seem to have quite a few complaints, so I steered clear of those. Amazon gave the tom-tom unit a 4 1/2 out of five-star rating. Looks like some 50 people responded, so I say that's speaks pretty highly of the unit. While I'm sure there some other models that are comparable, the price seemed right, and free shipping sealed the deal for me.
