Vehicle type is an important factor as well. When I was Craig's age I was
driving Austin Mini's, where the miniscule pedal size and stiff clutch
forces combined to give one "cold feet" regarding this practice.
On the other hand, Ontario winters meant I often drove my Mini wearing
mukluks.
