I think its safe to say it's important to use DOT 4 fluid, (not DOT 5) when you fill
up and bleed the system....but when I went to Advance Auto recently, they had DOT 3 that was synthetic.....


Am I just getting old or when did ALL the brake fluid become synthetic....they had 20 ft. of brake fluid and only 2 ft. on non-synthetic fluid?


Can I run their normal stuff today, DOT 3 synthetic...says its compatible with ALL brakes fluids for all brake disc./drum systems, etc....


PS.  The vanagon power steering system (pump, rack, etc.) is designed to run on ATF (Automatic Transmission fluid ) fluid, correct?
Dextron or does that matter?
