Shawn, I spent a lot of time on this one and too much money, only to disconnect the light in the end. My conclusion was that either the gauge was faulty or the resistor in the temp circuit (on the back of the instrument cluster) had changed its value due to age.

Someday if I can find a new resistor I will replace it, but I checked everything there was to check and replaced the relay and coolant sensor, check continuity of wires and total resistance in the circut and found nothing that fixed the problem.
