I believe Ebay would have no choice, if there is an investigation by the police or fbi they would have to share the information they
have.

I am sure there is some official protocol for that, and for the RMCP.

And I believe Ebay would probably not give out that information to an Ebay user, buyer or seller directly because of a concern about
entanglement or liability.

Exactly my point. eBay knows more than they are letting on.

An IP address would help the police figure out where the scammer is located, and if he's stupid enough it might lead all the way to
his door. Hanging up on the cops is not cool.
