Subject:      Emissions failures make me feel like a failure

Maryland emissions are driving me crazy.I just failed a third test this
evening.


My previous test on 1 November gave these results:


                                      HC
CO                   NOx


standard                         2.40 GPM       80.00 GPM       3.00 GPM


mine                               0.9921 GPM    12.3648 GPM    4.2152 GPM


I subsequently replaced the oxygen sensor, catalytic convertor, spark plugs
and wires.


I got these results this evening:


                                       HC
CO                   NOx


standard                         2.40 GPM       80.00 GPM       3.00 GPM


mine                               0.4208 GPM   5.8560 GPM      3.1568 GPM




I am now at a loss to know how to proceed to get it to pass. I know what to
do to get a waiver but I'd like to know what goes on. What are the likely
causes? Incidentally, the cat conv I replaecd appeared to be in fine
condition.


What do we think? I would like to hear some wisdom.
