Allan,

The rebuild kits for the racks have been discontinued as of last year. Getting a rebuilt rack is a great option since it is all put together and your down time is very minimal. Trying to rebuilt it yourself, you are on your own because the manual has no directions for doing this. I sell both the Maval and ZF (OE supplier for VW) rebuilt racks. The Maval is a great rack that I have installed many times for customers here. This is $325 plus the core charge and comes with the tie rods and boots installed. It has a lifetime warranty. The ZF racks have no core and they are $439. They do not come with boots and tie rods. However if you are looking for the highest quality rebuild you can get, this is it. Whenever you are replacing a rack you want to also replace your power steering filter. I have these for $12. Also note that the Vanagon PS system uses only ATF (Automatic Transmission fluid Dexron/Mercon). Do NOT use Power Steering Fluid in the system or you will have problems.

These racks are in stock in both my east coast and west coast warehouse. They can be shipped Monday. Just order through my web store or give me a call Monday and I can get the order going for you.

Thanks, Ken Wilford John 3:16 www.vanagain.com
