When I replaced mine on my '85, I used a #11 X-Acto to cut the hose from under the ring. Once the hose comes off the ring falls free. I reused the rings and, on this one, didn't add hose clamps at the ring end.

That was about 4 years ago and there has never been even a hint of a weep.
