Hi Volks,
Be careful with that.... that buy-back may include a title tagged as
"totalled", which can severely limit future insurability and resale
potential. Once something like that gets into the DMV or carfax it'd
be impossible to remove. Better to be patient with the process and
keep the van classified as road-worthy.
If it were camping season, it would be harder to wait, but since it
isn't, I would advise patience. As much as the blue book value is
used to settle quickly when they find a compliant customer, they also
have a procedure to deal with customers who do the research, write
the letters, and call them frequently. That process is called "paying
a fair replacement value". Pretty much every story I have heard says
the effort will pay off eventually.
