I was also thinking of coal. I read in national Geo Mag that at the current rate of electrical power generation via burning coal in the US, there is 250 years worth of coal left ! Which is horrible news from a pollution view point, but cars can run fine on coal gas I believe, if built for it.

You get even more power if you burn old tires. That smoke is really bad, makes wood smoke smell like sweat perfume.
