you do not have to remove the seat in the Westy to get at the heater. Just remove the plastic diffuser on the front of the seat base. Here is some info on replacing the heater core: http://www.benplace.com/rear_heater.htm ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ed Duntz" <eduntz@HOTMAIL.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Tuesday, December 11, 2007 9:33 AM Subject: Getting at rear heater

I have a 1987 Vanagon Wolfsburg with the z-bed. and also a 1985 Westfalia. I need to get at the rear heater fan and likely replace in both of them. (I don't have the Bentley manual with me now or I'd look for help there first.) Do I have to take out the seat to get at the heater to replace the fan? Can anyone point to a post that describes the removal procedure for each type of seat?

Thanks, Ed in CT
