Well, that's all nice, fine and good for passenger models where there's room underneath the back seat and the area is not usually considered for storage except for loose french fries, burger wrappers, legos, etc. But the "box" area under a Westfalia seat is very near and dear for maximum use for storage, especially for a person like me who lives in one "full-time". Even though it takes up little space, the way I pack stuff (and spare parts) under the rear seat, there would be the chance it might overheat because I leave NO airspace whatsoever. Maybe the rear portion of the closet or even in the "airspace" just under the closet might be a better place for the ECU.

On the 75-79 Fuel Injected Beetles, they placed the ECU in the rear luggage compartment behind the rear seat. When they did that I couldn't put a regular-sized suitcase there - had to go to a smaller size (but that was a very, very long time ago in a galaxy far, far away).

As another fer instance, I have my Dish Network control box mounted inside the front closet like Larry Chase does on his Roadhaus. Ventilation is good, even better when I leave the closet door open while using it.
