Hi,

We wanted, one day, to drive from Puertecitos down to Gonzaga Bay in Baja California. Lack of reliable sources of fuel for too many miles drove our decision to cease and desist. (We'd been told that the Pemex in both Puertecitos and Gonzaga Bay were closed that weekend.)

So once back in el norte, we bought a gas can. Only to find that we can't use it with our '87 Vanagon. There's something weird about the (relatively) new US gas cans' filler spouts.

So the next time we were in San Felipe, we stopped at a local 7-11-alike. Managed with our gringo spanish to convey that we needed a gas can. They referred us to a different 7-11-alike in San Felipe, and there we found a gas can that we could actually use with the '87 Vanagon.

Haven't yet been able to use the gas can in earnest, though. Too much of Baja California ... too little time ... *sigh* ...

Other thing ... we have bought gasoline from a guy with a jerry can. But this guy was recommended to us by our traveling companion who is a B.C. native and he knew the jerry-can guy, so we were pretty sure we were getting reasonably good-quality fuel.
