The 86 cdn Syncro I used to own definitely had 1000 written on the speedo. The new owner swapped it out for a US "1600" speedo. (but they don't have the cdn speedo anymore)

Does the part number on the one you bought match Etka for Canada?

I guess you could install it and see what happens....
