Doug,

Would you like to use mine, I don't seem to be using them so far this winter?:<( I have studded Nokians on my Syncro(mostly because they came with it) and have yet to need them this year. The only real snow that we have received, about 6 inches worth, came while we were at Disneyland last month and has since melted away. A couple inches did fall last Wednesday, but that is all we have on the ground, this time last year we had about 5ft. Lots of unhappy skiers because of it. Last time we had a winter like this it was February before any real snow accumulated and then St Patricks day hit us with 28 inches in 24 hours.

As for traction choices. Chains are great if you only need them once or twice. Those that live or drive regularly in snow country are better served with real snow tires, studded if your local laws allow. The single most important item for winter driving is the nut behind the steering wheel, all-wheel drive, studded tires, traction control, ABS brakes, etc, are useless if you do not know how to drive on ice and snow.

Mark in AK -- wondering where our winter wonderland went
