I think the limit is only on residential streets. A guy who lives across the
street liked to park his plumbing truck in front of my apartment, taking up
2-3 spots. Lately he's been parking a block over, in front of commercial
buildings, because parking enforcement has been ticketing him for parking a
commercial vehicle on a residential street overnight. Never had a problem
with either my Vanagon or my ridiculous long wheel base Chevy Express van.
Of course, the former doesn't have "Plumber" and phone numbers plastered all
over it, and the latter is just a passenger van. Plenty of beat up old RVs
lining certain non-residential streets near the VA hospital though. They
never seem to get tickets.
