A tree fell on my wife's (in her pre-wife days) new Sentra years ago and she was expecting it be totaled, but when they removed all the foliage there was only a small dent in the trunk lid which she left unrepaired as a "vaccination" against further harm. It worked. Although the car was completely enveloped by the fallen tree, the trunk was supported off the ground by branches and almost nothing touched the car.
