I didn't replace this portion of the line. I don't know what the typical
lifespan of this tubing is but at 245k my 90 Westfalia's is still in good shape.
The fuel pump  on my vehicle is still the original as well. I would highly
recommend getting your replacement fuel line from Bus Depot as they carry the
original brand that came on our Vanagons. When mine was replaced about 1k ago
it  was still in great shape. Sometimes there really is only one true OEM part
 IMHO.
