Nice try. Cranking from the key is not the same as if you operate the starter with just you, the button, and a short path from the battery or hot voltage to the starter solenoid trigger terminal. So close, but no cigar. Steady light at the injectors ? hardly makes sense. That would mean that the ecu was supplying ground to trigger the injectors full time, it's possible I suppose, but I've never seen it. If you don't want to crank the engine, you can also remove the distributor and turn it by hand. That's the only way the ecu knows the engine is turning, by what it sees the distributor doing. I'm skeptical that the ecu is sending full time ground to the injectors. You should be looking for pulsing ground at the injectors wires, not power. Full time power is supposed to be there. That's how it works, Main relay supplies 12V to injectors, ecu supplies ground for periods of milliseconds. After some testing this morning, here is what I now know: 1) fuel pump is not clogged and is pumping fuel. 2) No fuel is flowing through the injectors 3) With a test light I am getting power to the injectors, however...I get a steady light, not a flicker as per Bentley (and others). This is with ALL injectors disconnected and engine cranking. 4) Scott, I do have a remote starter, her name is Clarice and she is 14. Now I have to take her to the mall to spend some of her Christmas money in exchange for helping me out this morning-I was getting too cold anyway, as all this has been in an unheated garage. But you're right, I do need to get a real remote starter switch-cheaper in the long run! 5) Why would I get a steady light at each injector and not a flicker? Thanks, Jeff |
