Just drive alongside a wall or building if can find a place to do that. The
sound reflected back makes it pretty easy to tell if front or rear.
Generally I find that CV's first make noise in low speed turns.

J-
? Localizing sound can be tricky front to rear. Might help if you have
someone else drive while you move around the bus from front to rear
listening to see if it is the front or rear tire. (of course I mean you are
inside the bus while listening ;)
I had a similar problem I couldn't quite localize. It was a rear CV joint.
One of the balls of the CV joint was pitted pretty significantly when I took
the unit apart. A new CV? cured the problem.
Thing with CVs failing is they tend to knock, knock, knock when the vehicle
is turning one way or the other (left turn vs. right turn). Mine started
with the "clunk" and soon was accompanied by the knock.
I'm guessing the pitting of the CV balls with a clunk is not as common as
the balls wearing out of round or drying out and knocking. My clunk was
generally on stop or start up. It was not so common at speed as I recall.
