I think you can change the ring and pinion at considerable cost, which would sure help in the case of vanagons with more than stock power. And I sure wish I had time to search for the 'right' porsche 911 automatic. That could possibly be really nice. Scott www.turbovans.com

Hi Volks!

I was looking into upgrading my vanagon automatic transmission. By the way I love the vanagon automatic, it's a vacation vehicle is't it?

I looked in the rare option of ugrading it with a 3rd bigger gear to lower the RPMs for my future diesel engine conversion, but apparently that gear is NLA (No longer Available).

I searched in the web if this was already done and did not find any info, but does an automatic transmission from a porsche 911 transmission fit in the vanagon? just a though... Or any other manufacturer?
